Who Are You?

Wherever you stand in the working world “food chain,” you probably have questions and could use a little advice.  From the most experienced managers to job seekers who are so “green” they don’t know the difference between a social networking profile and a résumé, we can all learn a little something.

I’d like to personally welcome you to my blog, where I hope you will discover some insightful information and resources to help you succeed in your career. (Or career search for that matter!)

Work-related content is grouped into three categories, based on my three target audiences:

I invite you to post questions and contribute content within the  category that applies to you.  Likewise, you are encouraged to visit all posts and add any additional comments at any time.

My intent is to build an interactive community… where questions and answers are welcome.  The way I see it – the more input, the better.

This is an advice blog for REAL people about REAL situations in the workplace, employment, or job search arena.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Anita

Sylvia, Don’t give up hope! You’re right to not want to come off as desperate when searching for a job. You may want to try some temporary work until you can find a position that won’t make you miserable. It’ll put food on the table for those five kids! If you haven’t already, apply with my friends at The Select Family of Staffing Companies for temp work. To find a Select branch near you, click here: http://www.selectstaffing.com/site_code/includes_locations/mapping.cfm?site=SS. You may even be lucky enough to get a temp-to-hire situation. Good luck!

i was fired from my job 11/26/2010. still looking still no luck, anyway i applied for unemployment my company denied it. i had an appeal and won if you want to call 153.00 per week winning. my company appealed this action, my appeal date is 2/23/2011 what will happen and how likely is it that i will lose my benefits? the reason i was fired was saying a cuss word which during the first appeal my boss told the deputy we all cuss at times!!!no write ups no call outs no nothing. i was an a-1 employee

      Hi, Connie,

I’m sorry that you’re in a tough situation, but I’m afraid I cannot speculate what might happen in your appeal since I don’t have all the facts or the background information. I did find a site that might help you in preparing for your court date: http://www.unemployment-tips.com/denied-unemployment.html. I hope you find it helpful.

I wish you the best of luck getting through your appeal and onto a new job search!

After four weeks of unemployment my benifits were denied also and now they want to take the funds back from my taxes. The company had lack of work so I filed. What can I do. It’s my word against one office manager.
